A New Take on Japanese High School Life

In October of this year, stylist Yosuke Shoji, photographer Kei Ono, and brand RYUNOSUKEOKAZAKI came together to create unique visuals that fuse many interesting aspects.

The project, which is directed by Yosuke Shoji, has no title as they want to leave the reception open-ended. It features headpieces by RYUNOSUKEOKAZAKI, on Japanese high school students in their school. Kei Ono's work characterizes the emptiness and stagnation of teenage life. The experimental work featured above contrasts the coldness of Japanese high school life & the school it was shot in, and the powerful rawness that is embodied in RYUNOSUKEOKAZAKI's headpieces.

The project is also an intersection of Japanese cultures. RYUNOSUKEOKAZAKI involves traditional Jomon earthenware into his brand, and Ono often works with Japanese youth, high school students, and landscape. The Japanese school environment and high school students we are used to seeing in our everyday lives have been thrown into another dimension with RYUNOSUKEOKAZAKI's vivid, strong pieces.

How you perceive this work is totally up to you. It all depends on your views, where you are from, whether the work speaks to you or not. Check out the untitled project in the slides above.
