Demolition Girl / The Daibjin Attacks: Bikinis and Warfare
Demolition Girl [JP Title "The Daibijin" / The Big Beautiful Woman] was an action game released for the PlayStation 2 by D3PUBLISHER Inc. in 2004. It marks the 50th game in the company's SIMPLE2000 game series.
In the intro to Demolition Girl, you see Riho Futaba, a fictitious bikini model seen in multiple D3PUBLISHER games at the beach of Okinawa enjoying the sun at a photoshoot. All of a sudden, she is stung by an alien-jellyfish, and loses consciousness. After a while, there is a news report that a 48m tall giant creature is destroying the streets in Okinawa. This 48m tall giant creature happens to [painfully obviously] be Riho Futaba. The Japanese Self-Defense Forces must do everything they can to protect Okinawa, and stop the havoc that the giant Riho is creating.
In the game, the player becomes a SDF member and must board a "BH-2S Gorilla" helicopter, "E-15J Beagle" fighter jet, or an "89 series" tank, and complete a total of 6 missions, using equipped weapons to attack Riho while dodging her attacks at the same time. Each mission in the game has subtitles, like "Episode 1: Giant Creature Appears!", paying homage to classic Japanese hero shows like Ultraman or Kamen Rider. To add to this, each mission features cut-scenes in a live news program format, adding to the Godzilla-vibe that the game has.
In this 3-D shooter style game, there are a number of hidden elements you can unlock by clearing missions multiple times, or completing secret quests within these missions. Some of these hidden elements include customizable bikinis, and extra missions.
The game's oddness drew great attention in Japan, and continues to still be one of the weirdest, most bizarre PS2 games released to this day.
If you're lucky, you can grab a used copy online. But for now, check out some footage from one of the craziest video games out there above.
