Intergalactic Bugs Overdrive: Felipe Bolivar
Felipe Bolivar’s art is a performance of subcultures stacked over each other to create abundant, glorious portraits of his inner world. It’s imaginative, hard to define, but above all, intensely entrancing.
The young artist is based in Paris, and dwells in digital art, animation, and more. With an eclectic and experimental taste, Felipe Bolivar is a building block for the future of contemporary art.
It’s easy to tell that Bolivar was one to always color outside of the lines. Unorthodoxly cool, his genius constitution takes from moguls like Murakami and Hideaki Anno, especially in terms of fiction. His creation of unique characters reminds us of Pokémon: each of them is special, complex, and essential for a harmonious ecosystem.
Fashion seems to be a language in which Bolivar expresses himself through these characters. A wise balance of street casual, FRUiTS Magazine, and extraterrestrial high-end, it’s a dream wardrobe.
The wilderness is common in his body of work, but not the kind we are familiar with. Lush, hyper, and futuristic, the foundation of his style lies in the extreme, the spectrum of light, and perpetual digital tropics.
Drawing and creating does not stop at just visual beauty, as Bolivar creates interdimensional stories that leap beyond our universe. Awakening our childhood wonder for the fantastical and impossible, the young artist writes stories through fiery texture, glossy hazes, crazy silhouettes, and a cute-meets-sci-fi style.
He also runs ë-bugs, his personal brand of transcendental apparel, which is just in its baby steps but promising huge success.
Felipe Bolivar is, after all, the one and only self-proclaimed “techno-gourmet”. He mixes the spirit of techno music, the undying youth, and an unreserved talent for art to deliver a powerful, refreshing, and satisfying punch of a McDonald’s fountain Sprite.
