Paledusk: Japan's Genre-Bending Phenomenon Shaking Up the Global Music Scene
Japan is the underrated land of rock and heavy metal.
Though they’re under the radar overseas, J-rock happens to be the most listened-to genre in this country. Alternative rock and punk have been rising as popular genres after experiencing a stark decline. Now, more than ever is it cool to indulge in this genre - and naturally so, as nothing beats heated riffs and melancholic vocals.
Japan’s big and small cities harbor an underground scene of mosh pits, ripped jeans, and vocal fries. From here has emerged Paledusk, a progressive metalcore band that’s been snowballing in popularity.
Paledusk is your next favorite band, and that’s a guarantee: it’s a name soon to be plastered on billboards all over the country as they’re already busy touring in Europe and North America. A Fukuoka-native trio, Paledusk is a band taking Japan’s alternative music scene by storm and is quickly expanding its blow overseas.
Active since 2015, Paledusk has perfected its sound, redefining metal and electronic music one song at a time. Kaito alias KT is the lead singer, and the instrumentals are by Daisuke along with Tsubasa. Every single member triumphs thanks to their undying well of talent - Daisuke was actually in charge of composing the song “The End” in Lil Uzi Vert’s newest album. Closely knit with Japan’s underground hip-hop scene, Paledusk is a bridge for two distinct communities, both culturally and artistically.
Paledusk differentiates itself from other bands for its genre-bending, complex music. Rather than keeping it minimalistic, this band is the perfect balance of experimental and grounded: it’s addicting, and scratches all those itches in the brain aching for a jot of stimulation. Explosive, bright, novel, and daredevil, Paledusk knows how to never, ever bore with their indelible, recognizable flair.
