The Japanese Hardcore Hakken Master - Kamikaze

In recent years, there has been a big increase in fans in the techno & electronic music scenes.

In almost any club or rave you walk into in Japan, you'll start feeling the ground shake from the hard kicks. We aren't saying techno has ever been dead, but young DJs here are starting to mix techno and all types of electronic music with genres like hip-hop, rock, and more.

With this new wave of electronic music, there has been one sub-genre that has also slowly but surely been garnering more fans: gabber & hardcore. There is one DJ/Producer in Japan who brings this Rotterdam-born music to another level in Japan; Kamikaze. His love for gabber-kicks and fast-tempo tracks is unmatched.

Kamikaze, originally from the Okayama prefecture, not only is a DJ and producer, but a master of Hakken. For those who don't know, Hakken is a style of gabber dancing with fast leg movements, one of the best & sweatiest ways to go full in at a hardcore party. Kamikaze Hakken dances alone, with his friends, at home, outside, in Tokyo, in Paris, and anywhere else you can think of. Hakken all day long.

Hardcore has been more of an underground genre for the most part, but recently there have been more and more occasions for the masses to become familiar with the music. You've maybe seen a clip of Thunderdome, one of the world's biggest & most iconic hardcore festivals, or maybe you've seen a meme with some gabber-kicks playing in the background. Even brands are stepping into this field, most recently with eyewear brand GENTLE MONSTER using Hakken-dancers as models for their campaign.
