AFEW Goods x Pssbl x Sabukaru "The Cross Bag"
We are proud to announce the release of our very first collaboration with AFEW Goods and Pssbl in the form of the Cross Bag and a custom pair of made in Japan Chopsticks.
At sabukaru, we’re all big believers and fans of products that last a long time, have a proper backstory and look good when worn. That's why it was a no-brainer for us to join forces with our good friends at AFEW Goods and Pssbl, seeing that we all share the same philosophy when it comes to creating cool product. Based on our common view about the future of fashion being all about sustainability, a key theme of our release is the idea of “reduce & reuse”.
Made from 100% recycled plastic bottles, our Cross Bag is expertly manufactured by Pssbl, who regularly organize Plastic clean-up projects in Cambodia to convert the waste material into a special yarn - without compromising on quality, details, look and feel. While the outside of our bag sports a stealthy and clean matte black finish, the inside lining reveals a colorful and fun Japanese food graphic by artist and illustrator Dani Spickermann.
But we didn’t just stop there: As a Tokyo-based magazine, we’ve witnessed the 20-minute lifespan of countless pairs of disposable chopsticks all too often. To take an active stance against the creation of this avoidable byproduct, each Cross Bag contains a pair of custom engraved sabukaru and AFEW Goods reusable 22cm chopsticks. Each pair is made by one of the oldest chopstick manufacturers in Japan using only Cherry trees that were already cut previously due to road widening or recycled wood from furniture. And due to the waterproof coating, we invite you to use, clean and re-use our special collaborative pair of chopsticks!
To showcase the collaboration, the sabukaru Tokyo team produced an editorial featuring the two visual artists Johnny Terror and Vloqee as they roam around the Japanese capital and grab a good bowl of ramen as well as 3 original illustrations by the artists themselves.
The AFEW Goods x Pssbl x sabukaru collaboration will be available via the AFEW webshop tomorrow, Saturday, December 19th, 2020 at 9:00AM CET.
