CULTURE GATE TO JAPAN - ART AS A GATEWAY
The Agency for Cultural Affairs, Government of Japan invites you to experience an all-new type of art exhibition, featuring media artists and creators that collaborate with the diverse Japanese culture to express the traditional local culture in an innovative way - in the physical and virtual space online for everyone to see.
Culture Gate to Japan is a cutting-edge art exhibition that showcases and highlights the diversity of Japanese culture through the lens of talented and recognized media artists. Distributed at all major airports around the country and one cruise terminal, each airport museum greets visitors with locally-themed digital artworks highlighting the historic and contemporary cultural artefacts and crafts of the surrounding region. You will be able to see, feel and experience Japan’s culture in an unprecedented manner.
Exhibits range from the incredibly detailed handcrafted goods produced in the Fukuoka region, to the majestic architecture and trade legacy of the Ryukyu Kingdom in the Okinawa Area. Japan invites you to enjoy and immerse yourself in the diverse local culture of each prefecture. The result is a captivating experience that pairs historic cultural legacies with the novel media arts and revitalizes local cultures in an exciting way. In addition to its presence at the airport, all exhibits are also available online.
Especially during these challenging times, which make it difficult to explore and encounter new cultures and people, Culture Gate to Japan invites you to stay inspired and keep the strong bond between art, people and culture alive.
Following the philosophy of connecting travellers and culture through art, Culture Gate to Japan serves as the artistic entrance to the diverse local cultures that Japan has to offer.
