FROM PUGLIA, ITALY WITH LOVE: behind the scenes of adidas X LC23

In a cultural landscape dominated with collaborations, big names come first. Fortunately, it also sets the stage for smaller brands, shining light on people who celebrate tradition and preserve craftsmanship.
Whether kneading bread or embroidery stitching, beautiful things are created by hand. Made with love from Puglia, the southern region of Italy, LC23 was founded by Leo Colacicco in 2010, steadily realizing one vision: making craftsmanship great again.
As sportswear giant adidas came together for an intimate project with LC23, sabukaru had the opportunity to sneak a peek behind the scenes of how the collection was made.
A fusion between traditional techniques and modern design, the collaboration between the two weaves the past and present with their very own hands. The hand-tombolo laces and intricate embroidery tastefully layered on the three stripes staples, the collection is sleek yet warm.
Each piece is carefully handcrafted, with delicate embroidery taking multiple hours to complete, and some pieces requiring several days to finish. The warmth of the hands that create these garments is sure to be felt in every piece.
To celebrate the launch of the collection, a limited run of 8 apparel pieces and 2 pairs of footwear will be raffled off on the adidas CONFIRMED app. An exclusive curation of items separate from the retail assortment, some even fully produced in Puglia, Italy, with love.
You can get into the raffle via the Confirmed App here.
