The Hottest Brand In The World Goes adidas - Balenciaga Spring 2023

Demna Gvasalia once again takes the fashion world by storm with Balenciaga's Spring 2023 collection, officially introducing the brand's partnership with adidas.

Known to hold shows at obscure locations, the maison this time took over the infamous floors of the New York Stock Exchange, making it their first show held in the States. Models walked down the runway in what you might call "office-uncasual" looks; the office part being Balenciaga's signature oversized tailoring, and uncasual part being every single model wearing a skin-tight latex gimp suits. The first half of the collection, Balenciaga's new Garde-Robe line, had the iconic "New York, New York" playing in the background.

But as wild as the collection was, the 2nd half of the show, the adidas collaboration is what took center stage, with blaring electronic music by musician & Balenciaga friend BFRND. Ranging from socks and tees to big puffers and leather jackets, the Demna treatment was given to classic adidas staples like the tracksuit. But at the same time, the adidas treatment was given to Balenciaga staples like the Triple S and sock-esque Speed Sneaker, a breath of fresh air in today's fashion world where collabs are often just a logo slapped on some pieces or new colorways of an existing items.

Some guests [invited with a stack of fake dollar bills] who showed up to the show were also seen sporting new items from the collection.

Ye, known for being close to Demna & having their ongoing project "YEEZY GAP Engineered by Balenciaga", pulled up in a pair of new ultra-chunky boots, while Pharrell was seen rocking the Balenciaga adidas Triple S. While the Triple S has sometimes been associated with a "hype" style, Pharrell pulled them off flawlessly.

The collection is available for pre-order from now until 5/29 on Balenciaga's website. While the prices are rather high and the items are exclusive, the items in the partnership will surely be historical pieces, so go check them out when you get the chance.
