Garonganut: the 3D Cyber Artist Manifesting the Future

Under the name of Garonganut, Kai Shinomura is the definition of a modern-day genius.

Creating transformative and innovative art through 3D graphics, he is one of the uprising artists that should absolutely be on your radar.

Shinomura’s talent is impregnated in his creations. Employing various textures, he creates art that tells its own story: whether it be cybernet girls suited up in cat-bot armour, a conceptual peaceful protest device in the form of a tennis ball, or prosthetics for bugs, nothing strays from his imagination. Fashion, robots, body enhancements, you name it, Garonganut has recreated it.

Inspired by artificial intelligence, surgical advancements like chip implants and prosthetic limbs, tech fashion, and PCB boards, his creations are like never-seen-before hints of the future, with his signature plastic sheen glazed over his characters. Reminiscing of Neon Genesis Evangelion giga-robots, his most popular designs are of cutesy androids with subtle touches of shojo manga influences.

Just when you thought you’d seen it all, Garonganut delivers a new realm of possibilities. Conceptual would be undermining: basing himself on modern scientific developments and pop culture, Shinomura effortlessly finds a balance between hyper-realism and fiction. His videos and art are proof of his skills, as if fueled by the most efficient CGI technology.

He’s currently based on the Canadian West Coast, but his works have circled all around the net. Garonganut designed multiple album covers and delved into out-of-this-world collaborations with the cyber-Y2K label Christian Stone and fashion brand MOWALOLA among others, and even worked with Drake. Shinomura’s artwork is also popular among the universe of NFTs.
