J.L-A.L x Hoka Tor Ultra - Synthesizing the Future of Footwear

By embracing his signature technical design philosophy and distilling it down into footwear, his recent collaboration with Hoka [@hoka] sparks a pivotal moment in both the designer’s career and the expectations of future sneaker releases from all.
Providing a reimagining of the coveted Hoka Ultra Tor Hi and Low, celebrating the profound drop the sabukaru team took the Japanese countryside in an editorial that draws from all corners of the release’s inspiration.
Inviting us into a narrative with the past, present, and future, Jean Luc adds timeless embellishment to the Ultra Tor Hi & Low, 2 models that are already best in class for many of the functional-first consumers. From both colors being inspired by natural beauties, titled ‘Dune’ and ‘Aurora’, to the silhouette's intrinsic practicalities such as the Vibram MegaGrip outsole, the shoes indulge in meticulous thought from the London designer. With a focus on bridging the gap between technology and the land we tread on, this release synthetizes a profound dialect with contemporary outdoor style.
To champion this rationale, we ventured to a place which has been reclaimed by nature, and with the help of mankind now flourishes as a dystopian oasis: Industrial design meets environmental enrichment, cold meets warm, destruction meets regrowth – An epicenter of balance, where neither side of the scales tip.
