JONIO & NIGO - LAST ORGY 2 & 2.1
In the most recent edition of GQ Japan, it was revealed that "Jonio" [Jun Takahashi] and "2GO" [NIGO] will be coming back together to make a return on their iconic 90's magazine series, Last Orgy 2.
Titled "Last Orgy 2.1", Jun and NIGO talk again about the things they like, just as they did in Last Orgy 2. In Last Orgy 2.1, the two talk about pottery, LEGOs, STAR WARS, and more. The title design is done by @verdy.
The original Last Orgy was a magazine series featured in "Takarajima" [Treasure Island] Magazine, by streetwear legend Hiroshi Fujiwara and hiphop legend Kan Takagi . The name "Last Orgy" comes from their hiphop group, TINNIE PUNX's song of the same name. In this series, the two would sit down and share some of their favorite clothing, music, art, and basically anything they enjoyed and found interesting at that time. Every time the two would present an item in the magazine, it would usually sell out & resell prices would skyrocket.
The original Last Orgy, as you could probably imagine, influenced the youth of Japan heavily. At the time, 2GO and Jonio were still young, and were one of the many people that took inspiration from the series. They went on to start their own series in the same magazine, originally titled "AZ" in 1991. However, they took on the name "Last Orgy 2" soon after when they invited the OGs, Hiroshi & Kan themselves.
In Last Orgy 2.1, Jonio and 2GO basically succeed Hiroshi & Kan, and talk about their favorite things. As one could imagine, anything they talked about would get crazy attention afterwards. Keep in mind though, this was before BAPE, before UNDERCOVER, even before Nowhere. Last Orgy 2.1 was one of the very first starting steps for both NIGO and Jun.
In 1994, shortly after UNDERCOVER presented their first collection, Last Orgy 2 saw an abrupt end due to Takarajima changing its name to XXX, which ended up changing the style of the magazine. However, they also announced that Last Orgy will be revived as Last Orgy 3 at some point.
