OOO-ing Studios – The Taiwanese Hair Salon Breaking Beauty Stereotypes

OOO-ing Studios – The Taiwanese Hair Salon Breaking Beauty Stereotypes

Nestled away in a quaint alley lies one of Taiwanese most creative.

Situated in Taichung, a quickly developing city in Taiwan, lies OOO-ing Studios. Headed up by avant-garde beauty trifecta Light Lou, May Wang, and Wesley Wei, this hair salon is destroying beauty normalities and sending an electrical current of neon through their customer’s locks.

OOO-ing from the outside looks to be the same as any other in the district, but it’s what goes on inside that makes it a place where true beauty euphoria occurs. Having gained world-renowned exposure and respect due to their innovative new perspectives on hair-dying techniques, their reputation is as flourishing as their designs. In this hair studio, you will not find your traditional bobs, perms, and skin fades, but instead, they offer a door into a Y2K-inspired collision of chaotic colours and beautifully artistic designs.

Inspired by the Ura-Harajuku style and the carefree nature of its bold and ever-blossoming colour pallet, OOO-ing distills this similar energy into their designs. Using a paintbrush instead of traditional hair-dying techniques allows their craftmanship to transcend from usual beauty stylists into the realms of artistry. They believe that everyone has a unique personality, and with their work, they bring this concept to life through unique designs that embody these quirks.

With Taiwan still being a rather governed country with various beauty taboos, despite its varied cultural celebration, OOO-ing also acts as a movement as well as a beauty parlour. With coloured hair historically being stigmatized, as well as various corporal investigations to crack down on diversity within hair and individuality, OOO-ing is here to repel this diversity oppression.

Having already collaborated with the likes of Sun Buddies, OOO-ing is making a name for itself as a wider creative outlet expanding past hair.

With it only opening its doors in 2019, its conquering using its weird and wonderful designs is only just beginning, and we can’t wait for more.
