Sabukaru Tokyo Cars - A Series by Sabukaru 007: AKIRA RAMBO

#sabucars is a series featuring some of our favorite cars in Tokyo together with their owners. For the 7th edition of Tokyo Cars, we met up with 22 year old half Japanese half French film director Rambo Akira to have him share his ever-growing love for his car.

On a chilling mid-winter day, the Sabu team met up with Akira, in a quiet street near a laid back Japanese restaurant. While it wasn't below freezing, his 1991 Honda NSX NA1 was so cold it sure felt like it. Akira's NSX is the very first model of the car, the starting point for what is now one of the most impactful supercars in history. The NSX completely changed car history with how comfortable and convenient it was, contrary to the super car-image at the time being very inconvenient & impractical for daily use.

Akira is on a trip to fully make his exterior back to stock parts, and interior as modern as possible. Even the smallest details, like the front lip being the stock lip for only 1991-1993. His love isn't necessarily for cars, but the NSX itself.

Akira bought his NSX in 2020, right before his 21st birthday as he wanted to get his dream car while he was still 20. However, it wasn't easy. All of the NSXs he would find at stores weren't quite the one.

But while on a trip to Gunma, he met an old man who had just bought an NSX, the very first model. In a small cabinet in his small car shop, Akira noticed an old picture with him, his two daughters, and his first NSX. When Akira approached him, he had no plans on letting the car go. But as he talked and got to know him, he mentioned he used to own the NA1 NSX, and wanted to drive it again 20+ year later. After some talking, he felt Akira's love and passion for the NSX, and decided to sell it to him.

A few weeks of waiting for his loan to get approved, and Akira headed back to Gunma to retrieve his ride. He noticed another picture frame had been added to the cabinet. The owner, his daughters, and their daughters, all standing with the NSX.

Today, Akira rides the NSX with massive love & respect, and wishes to keep not only his, but all NSXs alive in the years to come.
