Tokyo is one of the biggest cities in the world. But what people don't know, even those living in it, is that there is much more to Tokyo than busy streets, neon lights, and intimidating train systems.
Deep west in the mountains of Tokyo is the only inland village to exist in the prefecture, Hinohara-mura. With 90% of the village being a forest, Hinohara-mura is a go-to spot for camping, hiking, fishing, and any many more outdoor activities. And deep in the mountains of Hinohara-mura is THEATER 1, a lodge/theater where you can stay and have one of the most surreal experiences of your life.
A 90 minute car ride from the hearts of the city, THEATER 1 is a singular building 600m above sea level, deep in the mountains of Hinohara-mura. In fact, the only building in an over 16,000m2 area.
The lodge is beautifully built, with a 100 inch screen, 4K projector, 7.1 channel Dolby Atmos surround sound system with subwoofers, all ready to go with your streaming service of choice.
But not only are you able to watch movie and blast music without worrying about anyone else, you can enjoy a BBQ with an incredible view, relax on some of the nicest possible furniture available, sleep in the large tent also a part of THEATER 1, or simply just sit down in one of the reclining chairs and enjoy every bit of the breathtaking atmosphere. There are also additional high-class food options available, as well as a wide selection of alcoholic beverages.
There is no place in Tokyo, or even Japan that we know of that is similar to THEATER 1. With zero manmade objects in sight, a different view every season, and the sounds of all sorts of animals, you will remember a night here for the rest of your life.
