BYBORRE Edition 9TM sabukaru editorial
No matter how alluring the busy crossings and neon-cast streets of downtown Tokyo may seem, one of the most beautiful yet oftentimes overlooked parts of Japan is its wide-open nature.
Just a stone’s throw or 1h train ride away from the bustling capital, a completely different landscape unfolds for those who take the trip; One that swaps forests for skyscrapers and rivers for railroads.
While the sabukaru Team enjoys the convenience and perks of Tokyo city life, the appreciation for a getaway to the great outdoors has never been higher. Building upon said fascination, we took to the Japanese countryside to represent the best of both worlds while putting the latest Edition9TM to the test.
Inspired by BYBORRE’s signature knit technology, we chose to photograph the indoor portion of the editorial in a traditional tatami room. Paying special attention to the patterns that adorn the edges of each tatami mat, we aimed to highlight the attention to detail and craftsmanship that goes into each stitch - of the tatami and the garments alike. To contrast the coziness and warmth of the indoors, we showcased the more rugged and technologically-adept items in the lush Japanese nature.
Taking the BYBORRE knit from an old tatami room to the outdoors while showcasing it in very contemporary styling, we assembled a team of sabukaru favourites to make it happen.
