The Home of Heroes and an Old Pervert - The Kame House
What's pink, in the middle of the ocean, and gathers the strongest beings in the universe? Kame House from the Dragon Ball franchise.
Few buildings in anime and manga history come close to having the legendary status that Master Roshi's crib, aka the infamous "Kame House" does. Master Roshi, also known as Turtle Hermit or "Kame-Sennin" in Japanese, is "a perverted hermit and master of martial arts". Being the originator of the Kamehameha, Master Roshi is one of the series' key characters, and his house is just as important.
Located in the middle of the ocean on a tiny island, Kame House is home to not only Master Roshi, but also Launch and Krillin's family for a majority of the series. The house actually has an address, "NBI 8250012B". Master Roshi trained many of Dragon Ball's main characters at Kame House, including Goku, Krillin, and Yamcha, and it is also the main meeting spot for the Dragon Team.
During Dragon Ball, the house structure did not match the interior of the building, and the interior was also inconsistent from episode to episode. But in Dragon Ball Z, this was fixed, and the layout stayed consistent & matched the structure. The building itself is in fact able to be relocated, with the use of Hoi-Poi Capsules. And as to why Kame House is also able to never sink below sea level even though being on such a tiny island, creator Akira Toriyama answered "Maybe because the entire island is floating itself. Oh wait, but then the island would drift with the current..."
The inside of Kame House looks rather ordinary, but Roshi has some unique goods stored inside. In his closet are spare turtle shells, which he changes when he goes out to meet girls. On the 2nd floor, there is a secret room where Master Roshi stores his collection of porno books that he has spent over 200 years gathering. There are ancient books and literature that he wrote hundreds of years ago, which are actually just random drunk notes, with erotic pictures stuffed inside.
So yes, Kame House is legendary, and it is home to a most definitely perverted hermit and master of martial arts. Check out some pics from all sorts of media.
