The Never Ending Final Season of Attack on Titan – The End is [Almost] Here

The moment that millions of people have been waiting for is almost finally here.

The prolific anime Attack on Titan and its final episodes are upon us, with the latest trailer for the 3rd part of its conclusive season showcased just days ago. With this we may finally see an end to the melancholic tale of Eren and the Survey Corp – with a huge emphasis on the ‘may’…

For those who don’t know, Attack on Titan is an anime and manga that is set in an incredibly immersive and tragic universe. It cleverly and critically ventures into topics such as morality and the perception of good and evil, and although sugar coated in action scenes, its ability of character development and intertwining storytelling is the true magic . Season by season Attack on Titan has slowly started to unveil more layers of complexity and depth to both its world and its characters and has evolved from not just an action anime but a masterpiece of storytelling.

Although the manga finished almost 2 years ago, the anime, that is now headed up by Studio MAPPA, is still running. With it originally airing in 2013, this year marks its 10th anniversary. For a show that has only 4 seasons, the journey has felt like a lifetime for fans as they await the closure that its final moments will provide. And with the news that this Part 3 will be split into two parts, it seems they are continuing to drag this season out making it one of the longest, if not the longest, running season of all time airing originally in December 2020 and perhaps not even coming to an end by the time 2024 comes around.

The trailer introduces us to the moment that has been feared for years: the rumbling. As colossal titans storm the island or Marley and Eren has made a full metamorphosis into the monstrous and mutilated Founder Titan, things have never seemed bleaker for the remaining few scouts. With the trailer showcasing incredible voice acting and praised animation adaptations from manga to anime, although likely months away until we see it come to an end, part 3 could perhaps be some of the best Attack on Titan to date.
