When Sneakers Meet Drinks - The atmos Izakaya
Sneakers and Izakaya.
Most of you following us are probably fans of both things. What if these two worlds, which at first glance seem to have nothing in common, collided?
atmos brings us with great news. To celebrate the release of the new AIR FORCE 1 MID'07 LX "IZAKAYA", atmos has taken over an actual Izakaya, and transformed it into their own, titled "Ichibanya". Two worlds we'd never thought would cross paths, have now crossed paths.
From 8/25, atmos has taken over TRUNK(KUSHI), TRUNK(HOTEL)'s attached Izakaya, with a fully atmos-ed out Izakaya. Everything you'd see in a traditional Izakaya, from the beer glasses, chopsticks, posters, and anything you can think of, is fully customized for the limited-time event.
The sabukaru team was invited to attend the reception party, and get a first look, and a first drink, at the atmos "Ichibanya".
Enter the Izakaya, and you are first welcomed by red lanterns, with atmos and Nike branding. Once you find a table, which has a pair of AF1s in them, you will find two menus, one with the Kushi [skewers] & drink list, and another with a list of past AIR FORCE 1 models. A Manekineko [lucky cats often seen in Izakayas] holding an AF1 sole, an atmos-AF1 Kumade [good luck broom], and an AF1 Tanuki statue [for good business], are just some of the custom props you'll see in Ichibanya. The interior is also decked out with the new AF1s around the store, with all staff members rocking them as well. Even the Sichuan pepper for the skewers comes in a tiny cute Swoosh shape. There has never been so much detail in a sneaker-related event.
The new AIR FORCE 1 MID'07 "IZAKAYA" pays respect to Japan's Izakaya culture, with a swoosh/star logo on one heel, good luck Tankuis on the other, and the tongue featuring an Izakaya-style receipt with past Air Force 1 releases listed on it.
The sabukaru team never thought the day we drink beer out of an atmos-glass would ever come. But it did, and it was amazing. Thank you KOJI. Check out what the Izakaya is like above, and be sure to visit it while it stays open.
