Sabukaru Celebrates Beinghunted. 20th Anniversary at INNERSECT 2022 

Each year INNERSECT brings together cultural pioneers across the fields of fashion, art, music and technology for talks, immersive experiences, workshops and exclusive drops. 

 
 

For their 2022 convention, INNERSECT has collaborated with Sabukaru to bring forth its cultural prowess to a physical space. From the 15th of January to the 17th, Sabukaru will host its own space titled ‘Section 31026’ over an area of 700m2 bringing together some of its favorite brands and industry titans, one of which being Beinghunted. - the archetypal daily news feed turned multidisciplinary consultancy agency and all-around pioneer.

Operating in the shadows, Beinghunted. pulls the strings from above, executing strategies and campaigns with precision and deliberation.

In the early days of the internet, the landscape wasn’t so littered with news outlets devoted to footwear, clothing or design, but there was one entity leading the way from the outset - Beinghunted., led by head-honcho, Jörg Haas.

Launched in 2001, this year, 2021, marks the 20th anniversary of Beinghunted. and during those years, there have been a number of natural evolutions that took them to the next level. Initially started as an online news site predating the likes of Hypebeast, it has since morphed into a multifaceted creative consultancy executing campaigns and strategies for the likes of Arc’teryx Veilance and Asics, to name a but a few, as well as a publication and brand offering graphic-imbued tees.

Attempting to quantify Beinghunted.’s industry expertise and knowledge of technical apparel is no small feat, but Sabukaru’s hostess at INNERSECT seeks to measure just that, partly by showcasing their 20th-anniversary jacket developed in collaboration with Tilak - the Raptor MiG GORE-TEX® PRO.

For Jörg Haas and Beinghunted., outerwear remains a real point of intrigue and exploration which can be traced back to the International Stussy Tribe jackets that clad the backs of cultural leaders in the 1990s and more modern equivalents in a functional, dystopian sense from Errolson Hugh’s ACRONYM moniker.

With the aforementioned fostering an environment of progression and innovation, the Raptor MiG seeks to do just that and breed a modern-day tribe mentality by clothing today’s influential figures who have simultaneously been accompanying Beinghunted. for the past two decades, or more. In today’s age, there aren’t many collaborations like this that are produced in such minute numbers yet still receive widespread admiration from the community at large which is a real testament to Beinghunted.’s grip on the game.

The design is based on a front runner in Tilak’s Military Gear line, the Raptor MiG. It boasts a construction of three-layer GORE-TEX PRO material that is waterproof, breathable and exceptionally durable, as well as being a symbol of innovation, especially in terms of fabric technology.

Incorporating two different shades of olive, the colour-blocking is a deliberate aesthetic and functional choice with the darker shade depicting areas of high abrasion and the lighter tone offering flexibility and greater movement. The jacket is rounded off with a multitude of Aquaguard® laminated zippers, YKK velcro fastening and buttons, as well as a commemorative print on the lining to thank those involved and dual-branding on the chest depicting Tilak and Beinghunted.’s logos. 

 
 

Tapping into the brilliant minds of three technically-led parties, Beinghunted., Tilak and Gore, the collaboration leans on decades of cultivated relationships, with each of them lending their industry know-how to deliver a one-of-a-kind icon - a garment that’ll be coveted for years to come. Gore, the forefather of modern fabric technology, lent its most advanced 3-layer material to date, GORE-TEX PRO, and granted access to some of the rarer colours of this particular fabric. Roman Kamler and Jan Hauška at Tilak helped make the whole thing possible in a logistical sense by opening up a spot in their manufacturing schedule to squeeze this in. 

 
 

The Raptor MiG is a physical manifestation of the legacy and relationships that Beinghunted. has built in the last two decades which is something Sabukaru is proud to stand behind.
