Strong Body Strong Mind: ASICS’ Exclusive Work Shoes Range
ASICS is now a staple amongst many different tribes’ weekly rotation of shoes.
Ranging from performance-oriented sports heads to casual athleisure lovers all the way to high-fashion aficionados, the iconic ASICS stripes brand millions of people worldwide and in every corner of the fashionscape.
It’s this ability to be so diverse, yet so intertwined with what people want out of a shoe that allows Asics to truly sit in its own lane. Little known to many though that one of these lanes includes Workwear, exclusive to the East.
Having been born in Japan, Kobe, in 1977, the brand already has an innate connection with the eastern country, and with Japan having such iconic construction worker fashion, it makes complete sense that ASICS would invest in making shoes fit for building sites. Having emerged onto the market in 1999, the Work Shoe range have since been developed, tweaked, and undergone various design alterations; some have been colourful and flashy, others more bashful and minimalist.
Coming in various different silhouettes, just a few of the shoe’s features include ultimate grip, artificial leather with as few seams as possible to reduce water invasion, a lightweight glass fiber toecap for safety and mobility, heavy metal toe cap for protection, AGEL technology to absorb as much tension on the foot as possible, and of course Asics branding. With some having straps and others featuring lacing, there is something for everyone and we are surprised that these have not been picked up more by the West yet.
Ever since its excursion into footwear, ASICS has come leaps and bounds, proving itself time and time again as one of the kings of footwear. Whether it's GEL technology that revolutionized performance-based sneakers or their homage to Japanese workwear with the Work Shoe range, we can’t help but adore Asics in so many ways.
