How côte&ciel is Refining the Narrative Between Nature and Performance with its Komatsu Onibegie®️

French-born brand côte&ciel is no stranger to the universe of outdoor fashion.

Being a brand dedicated to meticulous design and creative self-expression, it sits comfortably at the crossroads of fashion-forward style and technical excellence, and with functional garments being the latest vogue in fashion, it’s no wonder that this bag brand would organically cross-pollinate into the gorpcore scene.

Although, unlike many of the brands the outdoor scene hosts, côte&ciel was not born in this universe, but through shared philosophies resonates with this crowd as much as the next; with their latest editorial they prove that, although not a dedicated outdoor brand, they still deserve a spot in your high-performance rotation for your next expedition.

The star of this editorial is Komatsu Onibegie®️, a new material that is made from ingredients extracted from onion skin as a base and various other natural sources such as olives and charcoal. By utilizing these core components, côte&ciel is able to reduce its impact through manufacturing but still retain the utmost quality.

The creative itself is a nod to the brand's Japanese manufacturing roots. Paying homage to Japanese construction worker garments with an avant-garde twist, the styling flirts with exaggerated silhouettes and ultimately contemporary functionality. With organic nuances intertwined into the scene, we find ourselves gazing on a harmony with nature and fashion as greenery takes over.

côte&ciel once again proves why it’s a brand that is only engrained in the fashion scape, but also one that is something to keep your eyes peeled on.
