It’s a Colourful World: IRO IRO by Aya Gloomy
It is to no one’s surprise that Tokyo’s music scene is as vivid as the Japanese megalopolis. Plenty of legendary musicians and budding artists fuel the ever-evolving world, and one of these people is the glittery and witty Aya Gloomy.
Previously covered on Sabukaru, Aya Gloomy is the epitome of Bjork meets Harajuku and has been feeding the Japanese electro-pop scenes with her art: her hazy songs, incomparable style superposed with her offbeat visuals are complete game-changers. This time, she has released a new track, which she wrote and produced herself, and it also is her first release since she got signed to the new label 21 N FUN.
Titled IRO IRO, the music video is a colorful whirlwind of outer space mixed with the most pop Y2K touches. Starring Aya Gloomy, the electro-popstar visits an abandoned theme park, dreaming about space and alien realms. Twirling around to her nebulous beats, one of the remarkable aspects is the outfits and makeup, all directed and done by herself. If she’s not known for her music, she’s known for her eclectic and fruit-punch style.
IRO IRO is another proof that Aya Gloomy is an accomplished artist, worthy of her worldwide acclaim. Full of innovation, she’s paving a path for all the other Tokyo-based artists.
