If Trousers Could Mega Evolve

Hong Kong-born, London-based designer, Christian Stone, is no stranger to outlandish designs.

He dedicates his own brand to a new race of revolutionary humans and their bizarre needs in functionality and aesthetics, and this is seen through his vast and varied designs consisting of contemporary meets otherworldly apparel.

Graduating from the renowned CSM with a BA in Womenswear in 2017, Christian went on to win the V-Files Runway 9 Design Award and was selected to show his collection at the 2020 Paris Fashion Week. Since then, we have seen a continuation of this passion and expertise, continuing to stride forward leaps and bounds. Having made an initial big splash in the fashion industry, Christine now causes a tidal wave within the NFT market, showcasing the latest creation he has conjured up. Introducing the Aqua Backpack Trousers.

If you’re thinking you recognise the dragon-like fish design which decorates these monster trousers, then you wouldn’t be mistaken. Based on everyone’s favourite angry amphibious beast, the Pokémon Gyarados, the trousers are the latest installment in his signature backpack trousers design.

The trousers are imagined as a pair of aquatic dragons disguising their bodies as trouser legs, and their heads as backpacks. The visible backpack compartments are formed by the wide-opened mouths of the twin Gyarados’. The trousers come in a black colourway, not the usual colour of the water-type Pokémon but looks badass all the same.

Unfortunately, you won’t be able to wear these trousers, at least in the real world. This creation from Christian comes in the form of an NFT project, providing an mp4 file and 2D collectables in PNG format. The world of NFTs is often a controversial topic and not one you would likely see the Sabukaru team dive into, but when it involves wearable Gyarados trousers, we’re all for it. Coming with a custom Snapchat filter, you may not be able to actually wear this, but you can trick all your friends into thinking you are.
